Straw Poll - SFWA Elections

I'm crazy. But as I was talking to one of my friends yesterday and this morning about the paradigm shift/election bid by John Scalzi it struck me that there isn't a straw poll anywhere for the SFWA elections.

I'm not a member (not enough qualifying publications), so I can't vote in the elections and I won't vote here.

Poll #951666 SFWA Election

President - Pick one

Michael Capobianco
1(7.1%)
John Scalzi
13(92.9%)
Other - (insert name in comments)
0(0.0%)

Vice President

Andrew Burt
2(15.4%)
Derryl Murphy
10(76.9%)
Other - (insert name in comments)
1(7.7%)

Note:
Yes, the poll is viewable to all. Think of this as an exit poll and the cameras are rolling. Katie Couric asks you how you voted so they can air it on CBS.

Note #2:
I think it's amusing that this poll ends in the numbers 666. :-)

I'd probably vote that way as well -- and then volunteer as much as I reasonably could.

Which isn't to say I shouldn't volunteer the next time I'm able to help out even if John doesn't win, because cutting ranks isn't the point.

There is a bias in this poll. THe kind of SWFA member who will vote for Capobianco doesn't know how to use a computer.

Well ... I'm essentially clueless about the interpersonal dynamics of SFWA members as it relates to SFWA or the real and imagined world. My wife says I'm gullible to a fault, so unless someone shows me something I'm in the dark. Once I learn something, though, my spongy nature takes over.

Bias is in the eye of the beholder. Which means the Capobianco camp can't consider this poll biased if they can't see it. :-)

Heck, I don't even know how many people here on LJ will see it. I'm just Milton from Office Space as far as anyone's concerned.

I don't know if I'll be official by the time the voting is closed, but I've put my application in.

Good luck.

There's not a hope in he-- I could qualify as anything other than associate membership. Isn't that what they call the wannabe status?

Even before recent events I planned to join when I could qualify.

No matter who you're voting for, that's exactly the right response. :-)

The poll's going the way I'd vote were I a member.

Seems to match the way I would vote as well. Question is whether we work on change from outside as well as inside.

Heck, you could see physics at work post-election: SFWA and anti-SFWA*

* - Though I've no idea what the acronym AWFS should stand for if it were the initials of an organization. cpolk is running her own poll about different ways to interpret the initials.
