Rejectomancy

Anyone know any tricks for Asimovs? I'm in my third month here waiting for a reply on a submission sent near the end of March. While I'm resigned to the fact that the writing business is a slow business, usually, it's so easy to grow old waiting for replies. Especially when you're trying to break into the business and postal rates went up in May and you know you put the right 39¢ postage for a reply on the March submission. Sigh.

90 days is about right for Asimov's. I'd give it another 10 days and then query.

I don't know if Sheila is doing all her own reading or if she's getting help. Generally, though, a longer reply time from them is indicative of them spending more time with the story (I imagine a "stories for further consideration" pile).

Good luck.

That's what I was hoping. If it was me going through the slush pile, knowing the postal rate increase was coming in May, I'd knock through what I could and save myself postage on those form rejections I could make before the changeover.
